Communities across the county are urged to get snappy and help create a digital portrait of Remembrance across Leicestershire.
Leicestershire County Council is asking residents to send in photographs of events and parades for a new online gallery capturing Remembrance in 2011.
Pictures of memorials, local servicemen and women, wreaths, standards, veterans and cadets are also needed for the snapshot which be built up from 14th November.
The online exhibition will capture how Leicestershire remembers its fallen and add to the 2,000 records of war memorials already collected by the council.
David Parsons, Leader of Leicestershire County Council, said: "Servicemen and women risk their lives for our country, fighting in conflicts around the globe, and our communities are keen to support our troops.
"The gallery will capture the face of Remembrance in 2011 and tell the personal stories of what it means to individuals, families and other groups today. As the minute's silence will take place at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in the 11th year, this will become a special record for a special year.
"Our support for the Armed Forces is unwavering and I'm pleased that through pioneering projects, we're translating this into local action." The gallery will start to be created from 14th November at www.leics.gov.uk/remembrance .
Photos need to be jpgs or pngs, and under 4MB, and should be sent to: warmemorials@leics.gov.uk . Permission is needed for people who can be identified. They can also be posted to: Liz Blood, Room 400, Pen Lloyd Building, County Hall, Glenfield, LE3 8RA. To find out more, please call 0116 305 6187.
