  • Your Green Spaces to be Discussed at Forums

    Picture of countryside in Leicestershire

Leicestershre has many green spaces, but which local areas are particularly important to you and why? And which areas do you believe need protecting?

Residents are being encouraged to get involved in the debate over what should happen to their local green spaces by attending their local community forum.

The Coalition government is considering creating a new designation to protect green areas of particular importance to local communities, and Leicestershire County Council wants to hear local people's opinions on this matter.

There will be a number of community forums across the county in the coming months, where people can share their views with local councillors and council officers.

In addition to items raised on each agenda, there will be the opportunity for questions from the floor to be covered during the forum’s two hour session.

David Parsons, Leader of Leicestershire County Council, said; "I think it is really important that local communities can shape the future of their areas, and I would urge people to attend their community forum to get involved."

For further information on your local Community Forum please contact Derk van der Wardt on 0116 305 7581, email him on Derk.vanderwardt@leics.gov.uk or visit www.leicestershireforums.org
