Leicestershire’s country parks are among some of the best in the UK and people now have the chance to vote for their favourite! Voting is now open for the Green Flag Award Scheme’s ‘People’s Choice Award’.

The award is an annual online vote that gives the public the power to decide which park or green space flying the Green Flag Award or Community Award should be named the site of the year.

Three Leicestershire County Council parks were successful in retaining Green Flags this year including Beacon Hill Country Park, Watermead Country Park, which is jointly managed with the City Council, and Bosworth Country Park. The attractions retained the prestigious award which signifies the parks are well maintained, well managed and have excellent facilities.

To register your vote just visit www.greenflagaward.org.uk Select Leicestershire on the interactive map, find your favourite park and click the ‘vote for this site’ button.

Voting closes at midday on Monday 12th September and the winner will be announced on the 21st September.

Byron Rhodes, Leicestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Country Parks said:

“Leicestershire is fortunate in having superb country parks with breath-taking views across the county that attract an abundance of wildlife and provide a great place for people to enjoy and visit. Staff and volunteers work extremely hard to achieve high standards and to ensure all visitors have an enjoyable experience. I would encourage as many people to go online and vote.”
