A new season of performances which includes covers bands, children's shows, theatre, cinema and panto has been unveiled for Snibston's Century Theatre.

Highlights for the new programme, which has been put together with help from the Century Theatre Volunteers, include productions of The Jungle Book and Sleeping Beauty, as well as a performance from the Pitmen Poets.

The autumn programme is being launched with a charity night of Merseybeat memories from The UpBeatles, a covers band which features BBC Radio Leicester DJs Tony Wadsworth and Chris Highton. The night will also feature a Beatles charity quiz, and a raffle.

Proceeds will be shared between LOROS and the Royal British Legion, the chosen charities of Jackie Dickinson, Chairman of Leicestershire County Council and Nigel Smith, Chairman of North West Leicestershire District Council, who will both be supporting the event.

“We’re looking forward to a great night’s entertainment with some classic songs from the swinging sixties," said Mrs Dickinson, "and are hoping to raising money for two good causes at the same time."

The show is being held on the evening of Saturday 3rd September at 7pm. Tickets priced at £10 are now available from Snibston Discovery Museum, or by phoning 01530 278444.
