Budget Consultation 2012/13

The council needs to reduce its spending as part of the national effort to balance the public finances.
Last year we sought your views on the savings the county council has to make, on where savings can be made and what we should do about council tax rates. Over 5,000 residents gave us their thoughts.
However, despite careful management of our finances, the scale of the latest national changes and uncertainties means we have to look again at the council’s budget plans.
Our budget plans for this year reflect what you told us, and have been amended to take into account extra budget pressures that have arisen over the last 12 months.
Our draft budget for 2012/13 has now been published. The document below summarises the key issues. If you have any comments about the draft budget proposals, we would like to hear from you.
