Contents
This site has been created by Leicestershire Together Connect to help members of the public gain access to a wide range of information about Public Services and on-line services provided by local councils.
This site provides links to relevant websites, such as those of Leicestershire's Councils and those of organisations providing information to help with everyday life.
Assumptions
This Help section assumes that the user is familiar with the basic use of a PC, mouse, keyboard and web browsers.
Navigation tips
Tabs
Information on this site is organised into sections including: Home, Your Councils, Local Information, Your Life and Online Services which are displayed as 'tabs' along the top of the page:

The default view when first entering this site is Home. Click on the relevant tab to view the section required. You will notice that the selected tab will highlight in lilac, while the other tabs will remain green, and there also will be a dotted/dashed border at the bottom of the selected tab. The content in the main part of the window will also change to display the information relevant to the tab chosen.
Note that some sections have multiple levels you can navigate to, allowing you to 'drill down' to sub-categories of information and related links. Consider these to be parent and child pages, for example Your Life is a parent page with many children pages including from 'Being a Parent' to 'Travel'.
'Breadcrumb Trail'
Below the tabs you will see the Breadcrumb Trail, a line which starts with the text 'You are here:'. This will tell you where you are in the Connect web site at any point in time and the position of the current page in the website structure. For example:
'You are here: Home - Your Life - Travel - Road Information'
shows that the current page 'Road Information' is under 'Travel' which in turn is under 'Your Life'. You can also use the Breadcrumb Trail to navigate back up levels by clicking on a level displayed in the breadcrumb trail. In the example, to get back to 'Your Life' page, click on 'Your Life' in the breadcrumb trail.
Left hand navigation menus
In certain sections, such as Your Life, a left hand navigation menu will be displayed on some pages. The following is an example:

- The current page being viewed will be indicated in bold text.
- If there is a parent page to the current page, this will be displayed at the top of the menu, with the child pages indented below.
- Other child pages on the same level as the current page will be indicated by having the same background colour and also by having the same amount of indent.
Links
For each section (selected by clicking on the tab as described above) the main window will display a selection of links for you to choose to view further information or links. There are two types of links:
- internal: a link to another page of this web site containing related links, denoted by a large green dot:

- external: a link to an external web site, denoted by a large lilac dot with an arrow inside:
. External links may also be denoted by an icon (small graphic) such as:

The description for each external link will have:
- the name of the website / organisation displayed in bold,
- the section of the external website being linked to , where relevant
- a brief description of the information contained within the link
If a link is selected to an external website, you can return to the Connect website by using the Back button on your web browser.
Home - the Home page for the web site. This is the default page when first entering the web site.
Your Councils - links to local Leicestershire council web sites as well as those major councils neighbouring Leicestershire.
Local Information - links to web sites containing general information about Leicestershire.
Your Life - links to web sites providing information for everyday life which has been organised by life events.
