Infolinx is a directory of local resources which currently contains details of over 60,000 records. The records are known as 'resources', as they hold information that the public would use in their everyday lives.
Infolinx aims to hold a little bit of information about many things, so that someone can search for a resource and then if necessary contact that resource for more details.
Resources cover a range of content types across the private, public and voluntary sectors. One of the main strengths of Infolinx is bringing all these together.
Infolinx is a partnership that includes:

Leicestershire County Council works on behalf of the Infolinx partnership to manage, maintain and develop the service.
The Infolinx partnership is keen to work with others and has ongoing discussions with representatives of the Health and Voluntary sector.
The Infolinx database holds approximately 60,000 records for a number of different resources based in Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland.
All the records are professionally managed and updated on a regular basis. Some of the records are managed within Infolinx, but the majority (for example:libraries and businesses) are managed as part of other processes, with Infolinx acting as a service that brings these different sets of records together. Amongst Infolinx's greatest assets are its listing of over 5,000 community groups (clubs, societies and self help groups) and over 100 local speakers.
All the records have a geographical location and keywords/classification added, which helps both internal and external search engines to locate records.
The 60,000 records held within Infolinx are split up into a number of different datasets, including:
The Infolinx database acts as a central repository for information from a wide ranging number of datasets. This information is made available over the Internet to a number of partner sites via an XML-based web service.
